Having Children Doesn’t Limit Your Life…

Hey everyone!

So this post is a little bit different to my normal topics, and it’s really based on some thoughts I’ve been having over the past few weeks.

Lots of people say that your life is over once you have children. That your life isn’t your own and you’re always having to think of someone else before yourself.

Which is partly true, but the tone in which it is said is the problem.

Before I had my baby, most of my days were filled with meaningless activities and more often than not I would be sitting at home watching TV until my then Fiancé came home to fill my time.

This might not be true for everyone, but before I had my little man I would get up late, do nothing, eat junk, go to work and maybe drink with friends on the weekend.

Once you have a child you have no choice but to get up and get going every day even if some days you really just can’t be bothered!

And in doing so my life has improved ten fold. I know my little man needs me. On a basic level he needs me to feed and water him. But children require a lot more than that to develop into happy people. They need love, fun, adventure, stimulation and a role model in their parents.

Now I have Hunter I walk more, play more, laugh more, love more, and possibly most importantly I think more.

I think about the person I am. And what I am teaching my son every day. Amongst many forms of learning, children pick up their behaviour through observation and re-enactment. In basic terms, what you do, they do. I realised that I needed to be calmer.

I realised what it meant when I heard people say ‘it’s not worth it‘. Whether is about a fight or an argument. Because it really isn’t worth it. If I got into an argument with someone now, it would have to be for a damn good reason. Because no way am I putting my child in harms way for nothing. I will teach my son to talk if he has a problem not shout.

Becoming a mother has made me re-evaluate my life goals, and strive to reach for my dream life with my family. The limits are endless.

*Disclaimer: this is my opinion, it’s cool if you don’t agree*

Let me know what you think! How did having children change your life?

Fashion Friday: Orange 🍊

Good Morning everyone! Hello to my new followers, and welcome back if you’re returning!

Today is Fashion Friday and I wanted you to bring the colour to this one. One I don’t often wear at that!

Orange, I know it’s a pretty bold statement but there was something cool about putting a blazer on over a dress!

Both of these items are from River Island

Dress: Click Here

Blazer: Click Here

These colours just scream holiday, and it kinda makes me sad because I’m not going abroad this year 😭!

I love the tassel detail on the dress, and of course the asymmetric design adds more interest to the overall look. The blazer adds a touch of sophistication and means that you could easily wear this outfit for an evening meal without getting too cold!

What do you think? I would love to hear from you so let me know in the comments below!

If you like my photographs, please head over to my Instagram page @lollyhm.fashion and give me a follow there too!

Have a wonderful day!

LIFE UPDATE 01: Family Time

Yesterday was a great day!

You know those days where the family gets together, everyone pitches in some snacks and food, music playing, good times rolling 😂!

Well yesterday was one of those days and I made sure I soaked up all the good vibes! Family is everything. Humans long to belong. I happen to have a completely awesome family who make me laugh endlessly. You can’t really ask for more than that!

My baby boy got to have fun with his favourite pint sized auntie and he slept through last night so points all round!

My husband bought me some pretty flowers ! Still showing me he loves me after 9 years. I must be special 😏

I cooked some baked potatoes, which I have done countless times but obviously when I cook them for a gathering they’re absolutely pants!

We welcomed Dereck the dinosaur to the family! Hunter was obviously pleased!

So yeah, there’s no pics of my family cuz they’re all ugly! I joke. I had a lovely day I got hit in the face with numerous balls haha ➡️⚽️ that kind! And my home was definitely a lot less quiet than usual.

Hope you enjoyed that post as it’s a little different to my main topics!

I’m having so much fun looking through all of your blogs and I hope you are also taking the time out to view the other submissions as it’s likely you’ll have something in common!

I noticed I didn’t have many submissions last time so it is possible I may switch to a monthly shoutout to give more bloggers a chance to get involved!

This will be my fourth shoutout and I thought it would be a good time to let ya’ll know some ways you can increase your chances of getting one! (Increase chances is the operative phrase!)

FOLLOW MY BLOG – I mention it each time folks! These shoutouts are for my followers only, so if you want to take part do the right thing and play by the rules!

I love seeing bloggers putting passion into their blog! Even if it’s one post every two weeks, if I can see passion and effort it leaves me with a good impression!

Thought of the day 01 – Everything has changed…

I saw this quote yesterday and I thought. Yes, this is absolutely true. I guess that’s what ‘relatable’ means.

Many things have changed about my life over the past few years. Lots of amazing things have happened, and some not so amazing things. But what I do know is that I am becoming a better person every day, I think a lot about who I am as a person, there have been lots of changes to ‘who I am’ throughout my life. That’s kind of what happens through experiencing new things.

I try to learn something from every experience I have, good or bad. I reflect and I carry on determined to make my life a little bit happier because of it.

I have my flaws and I’m still working on some aspects of who I am. But I am more myself than I have ever been.

I just wanted to share that with you guys, because I want you all to know, it is perfectly acceptable to change, and even be a completely different person to who you were a few years ago. Experiences do change us. It’s up to us to decide how!

Fashion Finds 02: Boot camp at 8, club at 9!

Bodysuit – £18

Trousers – £45

Shoes – £28

Hey heyyyyy! Looks like I’m back at it again with another fashion finds post! Did you like the title haha (I did clearly!)

I am literally loving all of the denim camo jeans I am seeing lately! Especially the non khaki versions, they are fresh and fierce! There is something so awesome about pairing trousers like this with shoes like that! It just screams confidence! I decided to keep the accompanying bodysuit pretty simple as I wanted to balance out the trousers a little. Of course I had to find some nails to compliment all the sass going on in this look! What do you think?

NSPA Skincare – Beauty Review 🌱

I am a self admitted, skin care screw up. Even that is an exaggeration, because I’d have to have some kind of skin care routine in the first place to screw it up!

I know I’ve been neglecting my skin, and taking advantage of my youth. Since I’ve been blogging a lot more recently and getting involved in the beauty community I have kind of realised I need to look after my skin a hell of a lot more. I don’t have unlimited funds for such things so I found myself looking in ASDA for some skin care products that were a great price and still gave me that luxury feel!

I came across the gorgeous NSPA Products exclusive to ASDA. They were on offer at 3 for two so I picked up three items that caught my eye! I looked on the back of the items and also realised they are vegan friendly and cruelty free along with being made in the UK. This ticked three big boxes for me because I am trying to be more conscious of the ingredients in my products, how they are tested and where they come from!

And before anyone mentions it, yes, I know I picked 1,2,2 instead of the recommended 1,2,3 but I have lots of moisturiser at home (this was the suggested no.3) and was much more intrigued by the radiant flash serum! Sometimes you just have to go with the items you like!

Review:

Price and Packaging: I picked up all three items for £10, which I think is amazing compared to some of the more high end products in this department! The packaging was precise, and modern. I love the fresh blue colour of the boxes, they really felt like luxury items!

Products:

I started the routine by using the Micellar Cleanser to wipe off any excess makeup from my already wiped face.

The instructions were as follows:

Apply generously to a cotton wool pad. Wipe the pad in gentle circular motions over skin to remove dirt and make-up, repeat as necessary until the pad is clear. For best results, use morning and evening and follow with Step 2 Treat and 3 Moisturise.

This item worked great! I used a cotton wool bud to wipe off any excess makeup from around my eyes and used a baby wipe to do the rest. There was no scent to this cleanser and it left my face feeling clean.

I then moved onto the Brightening Micro Derma Scrub using the instructions as follows:

Smooth Scrub onto damp skin and work in with gentle circular motions. Rinse well with warm water and gently pat dry. Follow with Step 3 Moisturise. For best results, with dry skin exfoliate up-to three times per week. With more oily skin exfoliate up-to two times per week.

The gentle exfoliator was gentle like the packaging stated, the scent was also gorgeous, I feel like that had something to do with the added ginseng! Also containing vitamin E this exfoliator is designed to leave your face feeling clear, refined and smooth. It did!

After patting my face dry I applied a small amount of Epaderm moisturiser before moving onto my last item!

The Radiant Flash Serum – I just love this one! As you can see below, the glow is phenomenal!

Instructions: Apply serum onto cleansed skin, patting or smoothing in gently. Wear over or under makeup for an instant pick-me-up

I smoothed a pea sized amount over my cleansed face and it looked and smelt divine! I couldn’t pick it up on the photograph but it left my face shimmering ✨!

I am completely impressed with all aspects of these products, and I’m also really pleased that I went for numbers 1,2,2 because I feel like with my added moisturiser between I completed my perfect 4 step process!

I thoroughly enjoyed using these items and would definitely recommend! Have you used NSPA before?

Why being ginger rocks!

It is pretty plain to see I have ginger flowing locks. Admittedly my natural hair colour is a lot darker than the shade I’m currently rocking, but I just love having ginger hair!

*Insert sleazy Snapchat filter above*

Some people are repulsed by the colour and go to lengths to make it apparent. I’m lucky I don’t tend to care about what people think, as throughout my life I’ve had comments like

Do you think gingers will become extinct one day because no one wants a ginger baby’

‘I could see you from a mile away with that orange head’

Apparently gingers have no souls – this one I actually find pretty funny ! And apparently I’m ‘attractive for a ginger’ a comment my husband particularly dislikes as in his words I’m attractive for ANY woman!

Why is it that people feel the need to mock ginger hair? And why is it that ginger people have been excluded from the emoji community? 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏿‍♀️ I am left with this emoji to call my own: 🦁

I’m pretty thick skinned so I’m not writing this post for my benefit. I’m not too fussed whether people like my hair colour or not, because I sure as hell do! I’m writing this post for the people who don’t have that confidence, the people who have been downtrodden by constant comments and now hate their ginger hair so much that they have put colourant over the top of it because they feel that they couldn’t possibly be beautiful without it.

It just isn’t true!

If you have ginger hair, you rock! Here are some cool facts to prove it…

  • Red heads are more likely to be left handed.
  • Red Heads are more sensitive to pain- yet tolerate it better.
  • Men with red hair are 54% less likely to develop prostate cancer.
  • Less than 2% of the worlds population have red hair.
  • Red Heads can produce their own vitamin D

Now if that doesn’t make you feel pretty cool then I don’t know what will! I happen to think that being a little bit different is awesome, and generally now I’m an adult I have receive lots of lovely comments on my hair colour.

If you do find yourself in a situation where your ginger hair is being mocked, just let that ‘no soul’ attitude shine through and they will get bored in no time!

I would love to hear some of your comments on this subject, so drop a comment below!

I hope you enjoyed this post! If you did, make sure to hit that follow button and show some love on my Instagram page: @loleihm

3 Ways to stay motivated with blogging!

Hey there people!

For a few weeks now I have been focusing on things that make me happy in life. While doing this I realised that I would like to pursue my dream of being a blogger/instagram influencer.

I am on a roll with consistently blogging and producing content at a good rate on my Instagram page (@loleihm), so I wanted to share some of the things that help me to stay on the ball!

1: If you’re feeling de-motivated, have a shower.

If you wake up and immediately feel like you just want to laze around all day doing nothing but eating snacks and binge watching Netflix, have a shower! Wash your hair, pamper yourself and have a think about your blog topic for today… when you’re done, get dressed! When you do these things, you will feel fresh and ready to have a productive day! When I feel fresh and ready I get a lot more done. When I stay in my pyjamas all day it seems that I stay in sleep mode for the entirety of it, and if you have a busy schedule, every bit of free time counts!

2: Take advantage when you’re being productive!

If you are on a roll one morning and you’ve done your makeup, and you’ve picked your outfit of the day to blog about for example, don’t stop there! Take photos of your outfit, then change it, is there another style you want to blog about in the near future? Put it on and get the evidence so that when you have a busy day, you have your content ready to go! If you did your makeup, what products did you use? Is there a product you’d like to review? If so, get the evidence! This means that you already have multiple things to blog about from one morning and you have all the photographs to prove it. Then if you do have a pyjama day, you can still type away on your phone and get that blog posted!

3: Remember the reasons why you started!

When you’re feeling down In the dumps and you’re not getting the followers or readership you wanted, at the rate you expected, DO NOT QUIT! Remember the reasons why you started and focus on those! Make a list of reasons why you love blogging and remember that if you are consistent and pour genuine passion into your blog topic you will slowly build up a following of like minded people!

So! Give it a go and let me know what you think in the comments below!
