Having Children Doesn’t Limit Your Life…

Hey everyone!

So this post is a little bit different to my normal topics, and it’s really based on some thoughts I’ve been having over the past few weeks.

Lots of people say that your life is over once you have children. That your life isn’t your own and you’re always having to think of someone else before yourself.

Which is partly true, but the tone in which it is said is the problem.

Before I had my baby, most of my days were filled with meaningless activities and more often than not I would be sitting at home watching TV until my then Fiancé came home to fill my time.

This might not be true for everyone, but before I had my little man I would get up late, do nothing, eat junk, go to work and maybe drink with friends on the weekend.

Once you have a child you have no choice but to get up and get going every day even if some days you really just can’t be bothered!

And in doing so my life has improved ten fold. I know my little man needs me. On a basic level he needs me to feed and water him. But children require a lot more than that to develop into happy people. They need love, fun, adventure, stimulation and a role model in their parents.

Now I have Hunter I walk more, play more, laugh more, love more, and possibly most importantly I think more.

I think about the person I am. And what I am teaching my son every day. Amongst many forms of learning, children pick up their behaviour through observation and re-enactment. In basic terms, what you do, they do. I realised that I needed to be calmer.

I realised what it meant when I heard people say ‘it’s not worth it‘. Whether is about a fight or an argument. Because it really isn’t worth it. If I got into an argument with someone now, it would have to be for a damn good reason. Because no way am I putting my child in harms way for nothing. I will teach my son to talk if he has a problem not shout.

Becoming a mother has made me re-evaluate my life goals, and strive to reach for my dream life with my family. The limits are endless.

*Disclaimer: this is my opinion, it’s cool if you don’t agree*

Let me know what you think! How did having children change your life?

Thought of the day: Living Your Best Life!

I was just scrolling on Facebook when I came across this amazing article: The Top 5 Regrets of the Dying

Yes I know, totally morbid. But the top regret has got me shoooook, and not because I was shocked by it, but because I have been thinking about this topic a lot this new year!

So one of the top regrets that the dying share is this…

“1. I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.”

“This was the most common regret of all. When people realise that their life is almost over and look back clearly on it, it is easy to see how many dreams have gone unfulfilled. Most people had not honoured even a half of their dreams and had to die knowing that it was due to choices they had made, or not made. Health brings a freedom very few realise, until they no longer have it.”

– And this is why I will forever encourage myself and my little family to do what they love! If you are not hurting anyone, forget the standards and social norms other people set, forget judgement, because living your best life is being happy with who you are and what you’re doing!

Imagine being on your death bed and realising your whole life was trying to fit into what everyone else expected of you. Or having not done the things that people thought you couldn’t. Even though it would have been your absolute dream!

Which is why I plan to continue blogging and building up my Instagram page, because it is something I love to do!

Eye Shapes: What’s yours?

Eyes are the window to the soul, they say, somehow I believe this. I feel like you can tell a lot about a person through their eyes. What they’ve been through or how they’re feeling.

What do you think my eyes say in the cover photo?

So today I will be talking about different eye shapes and some celebrities who have the same! See if you can spot yours!

Narrow Eyes:

Narrow eyes are seen as mysterious and sexy, paired with a subtle smoky eye they can look fierce! Blake Liveley is a classic example of the narrow eye.

Almond Eyes:

Almond eyes are seen as feminine, exotic and versatile. Almost any makeup look looks good on these eyes! They are wide, yet taper in at the corners, Angelina Jolie has beautiful almond eyes as seen below!

Round Eyes:

If you have round eyes, you are said to seem more open and friendly in nature, they look youthful and bright. My example for the round eye today would have to be the gorgeous Katy Perry:

Deep Set Eyes:

Deep set eyes give the appearance of a very prominent brow and cheek bone which oozes confidence. The likes of Kim Kardashian rock this eye shape and use it to their advantage to exaggerate their stunning face shape!

Of course there are plenty more eye shapes out there so have a look if you’re interested!

The Psychology of red lipstick 💋!

Red lipstick is a statement. We all know that. We tend to save this shade for a night out or date night so what is it about this shade that women love?

First of all, studies conducted by Psychology Today have found that both men and women find the opposite sex to be more attractive when they are wearing red or even standing against a red background. Red is seen as daring and sexy. So wearing this lip colour boosts the confidence of females because they instantly feel more attractive and assertive.

Some women say that this colour helps them to re-assert their femininity on days when they aren’t feeling their best. Others say it’s just plain HOT!

Red is well known as the colour of love, a red rose is signified as the ultimate valentines gift. So if you’re headed out this valentines make sure you put your red lipstick to good use!

I, myself don’t tend to wear a lot of red lipstick. I tend to go for more plums and nudes. With this blog post in mind today I went with the red theme and It did actually make me feel amazing and indeed confident!

What is your go to shade?

Do you think red is more attractive than other colours?

3 Ways to stay motivated with blogging!

Hey there people!

For a few weeks now I have been focusing on things that make me happy in life. While doing this I realised that I would like to pursue my dream of being a blogger/instagram influencer.

I am on a roll with consistently blogging and producing content at a good rate on my Instagram page (@loleihm), so I wanted to share some of the things that help me to stay on the ball!

1: If you’re feeling de-motivated, have a shower.

If you wake up and immediately feel like you just want to laze around all day doing nothing but eating snacks and binge watching Netflix, have a shower! Wash your hair, pamper yourself and have a think about your blog topic for today… when you’re done, get dressed! When you do these things, you will feel fresh and ready to have a productive day! When I feel fresh and ready I get a lot more done. When I stay in my pyjamas all day it seems that I stay in sleep mode for the entirety of it, and if you have a busy schedule, every bit of free time counts!

2: Take advantage when you’re being productive!

If you are on a roll one morning and you’ve done your makeup, and you’ve picked your outfit of the day to blog about for example, don’t stop there! Take photos of your outfit, then change it, is there another style you want to blog about in the near future? Put it on and get the evidence so that when you have a busy day, you have your content ready to go! If you did your makeup, what products did you use? Is there a product you’d like to review? If so, get the evidence! This means that you already have multiple things to blog about from one morning and you have all the photographs to prove it. Then if you do have a pyjama day, you can still type away on your phone and get that blog posted!

3: Remember the reasons why you started!

When you’re feeling down In the dumps and you’re not getting the followers or readership you wanted, at the rate you expected, DO NOT QUIT! Remember the reasons why you started and focus on those! Make a list of reasons why you love blogging and remember that if you are consistent and pour genuine passion into your blog topic you will slowly build up a following of like minded people!

So! Give it a go and let me know what you think in the comments below!

Is it weird to wear your wedding dress twice?

My wedding day was absolutely amazing! It was beautiful and romantic, and I got to see lots of people of whom I don’t get to see all that much in my day to day life! That meant that I really wanted to soak up the good conversations and time spent enjoying the day, caring a little less about what the cake looked like and more about soaking up the love that surrounded me.

I had planned to wear my wedding dress until I went to bed, however I had only ever tried it on standing up and I realised at our wedding breakfast that I couldn’t actually sit down! I could get most of the way down but there was one last inch before I could comfortably sit on the chair haha! Apparently I chose fashion over common sense, but I lasted until 8PM (after the first dance) before I dashed off to change.

We got some absolutely beautiful photographs, thanks to the father of the groom (who was also our photographer) and we didn’t spend that much time taking them either!

So why wear the dress again?

I realised after I got all of the photos back, there was just one missing. It was a photograph of the back of my dress. Which I must admit I really did love. It may seem silly but I felt really quite sad that I wore such a beautiful dress, and would only have one half of it documented. I hadn’t thought to ask at the time and I really kicked myself for it.

I tried to think of possible ways of wearing it again without looking ‘crazy’ or like I wanted to keep reminding everyone of my recent trip down wifey lane. I kept telling myself off for being bothered about something so trivial. Then something happened…

It snowed!

The most snow I have seen in years in the West Midlands. I gazed out of the window for hours and I realised… This is the perfect day to get the photograph that’s missing! Again my mind flooded with, what if I look weird or crazy? What if people think I’m going to try and re-live the wedding day again for the rest of my life?!!!

Then I actually thought about it.

Why on earth should I feel bad about wearing MY wedding dress again? Why should anyone else’s opinion matter? And really, why would they care if I fancy prancing around in my wedding dress in the snow? That dress cost a hell of a lot, and if I want to get my moneys worth then I’m sure that’s my business! Am I right?!… I am so glad I did it!

I LOVE the photos! Thanks Mr Hemming-Marsh! I am so pleased that I broke through that familiar restriction of ‘what will people think’. I’ve decided that from now on if I’m worried about doing something that isn’t hurting anyone and is morally acceptable, I’m just going to go for it!

I would advise anyone reading to do the same! ✌🏻
